No good. In another group someone suggested a tag like that and the
next day all the posts had that tag, which made them easier to filter
but then the clueless fuckwit discoverd that and went back to normal.
Best way to handle this is by making sure one uses a news reader that
has real filtering abilities. Basically anything that isn't OE.
What I have been using:

Score:: =-9999
Newsgroups: ,
~From: \ <
X-Complaints-To: abuse@suddenlink.net
X-Trace: infoave.net
NNTP-Posting-Host: hargray.net

Of course, you are using slrn/0.9.8.1 (Linux). One of the best clients to
consider for Windows is XNews.

I am not going to get into a best-reader-war. People cn use what ever
they want. If it isn't google groups or OE then they will get far
more functinality. If they want to use Xnews, sylpheed-claws,
freeagent even pan or tin they will get better results with the
killfile then with gg or oe.
But of course if they really wanted the best ever then, even if they
run windows, they could install slrn and have a lot more free time to
live life and work toward world peace just because slrn is that much
better than all the rest. :)

I wasn't suggesting a best reader war. I was indicating you had a score file
entry in SLRN on Linux, so for the casual reader who doesn't understand this,
X-News is a good option to filter with using the entry your provided.
I use TIN on linux or FreeBSD ... so I was definitely not flaming you.

I am still getting small batches of them, much smaller and minutes between
messages. Copycats maybe?

Probably not. He's using a variety of zombies to post from. I think he
just uses a single zombie machine until it's cut off and then moves on
to the next one he finds.

it's like negotiating with terrorists. It just helps us see past them until they
give it up.

Threaded newsreaders identify ongoing threads nicely. Only initial posts are
hard to find, and it isn't too hard, honestly, to identify the the bad posts
and simply scanning should get you there nicely.
Having said that, feel free to post with a prefix if you think it will help.

I'm using Bellsouth DSL and I noticed this morning that I'm no longer
getting the flood of messages. If the sporge is still ongoing, bellsouth
must've taken notice of the complaints and started filtering the messages
out. Kudos to Bellsouth, if that is the case. Having done some digging
around, I have noticed that the original poster seems to have a history of
causing problems for usenet. I have found some messages under the same name
dating back to 2003, and a reference to being a teenager. I guess if I
couldn't find a girlfriend, either, I might have to get my jollies by being
disruptive to others... naah, probably not...

Google Groups, which I use to read the RCB posts, has a nice feature
in which the active (with the most replies) posts are listed in the
right-hand area of the window, most active at the top, making it easy
to spot the true posts and open them from there.
