Subject: new to all grain. grain recomendations

Hi, im going to do my first all grain batch in a few weeks when i get some time away from work. i want to buy bulk grain and was hoping for a few recomendations. i want to brew hefe's, wits, strong golden ales/trippels/saisons and some lagers/kolshes. can anyone recomend what grains i should buy in bulk to hopefully save me some money? thanks, john

Then you can tweak your recipes with specialty malts as needed. Generally, most of the brews above can be brewed well from lager malt, so consider a Durst Pilsner or similar if you want to pay more money. -- Thomas T. With those styles in mind, good German pils and wheat should fit the bill nicely. I've used Weyermann and Muessdorffer to good effect in all those styles (though I brew precious few weizens). Any other grains will be used in small enough quantities that bulk purchase by an individual probably would be overkill. Denny will probably throw in a recommendation for Durst malts...
