Just got my results back from the Long Shot comp. and low and behold
there was a free t-shirt in the envelope! I'm so impressed with how
this company gives so much recognition and support to homebrewers. I
also heard they were giving away free hops a few years ago but I
missed out on that one. Way cool, I'm definitely a Sam fan.

By the way, we need to fight back with regards to these spammers. We
need more topics!

I don't know -- BMC beers come in brown bottles and they're light as
can be. I think the association is more like, "Green bottle = import
beer." Which is just sad because it reinforces the idea that Euro
imports are supposed to be skunked.

I used to drink St. Pauli Girl (I know, I know...) and I'd usually buy
a single 24 ounce bottle. It was pretty much always heavily skunked.
Then one time I bought a whole case of it. The case keeps out the
light... The difference in flavor was massive and triggered a "malt
epiphany." It's one of the events that eventually led me to take up
homebrewing.

I think that the clear and green bottles are a part of thier marketing
strategy (as far as Carona and Heineken are concerned). I would assume
that most uneducated beer drinkers probably think that light beer
can't come in a dark bottle. It just goes to show that these companies
are more concerned with selling the most beer that might get skunked
more than taking preventative steps to assure the quality of thier
product. They SHOULD know better, right?

By the way, I really like the whole craft beer in a can movement
lately.

Really? That shoud make a big difference on extended whitewater trips. I used to
have to buy guiness stout to get drinkable beer in a can.

I've seen canning instances on the internet but have never seen any
equipment for canning anywhere. Any pointers? Out of strict
curiosity...

Neat! Doesn't look very homebrewer possible though heh.. I'd like to
see one up close and personal to see if it can be done on a small
scall.

Thanks!

Have you seen the commercial where SA explains about beer skunking and the
color of the bottle? That should send shivers down the spines of certain
"import" brews - should, but it won't. . .

Within the last six months, I had a bottle of
Newky Brown that was skunked. Those white &
green bottlers will not learn unless Koch runs
that commercial enough times and in the right
places so the message gets through and their
sales drop.
