It's a kit that helps to troubleshoot the things that can go wrong in a
beer. Pretty spendy business. Has anyone tried it?

It doesn't really help you trouble shoot a specific beer, other than just
providing you with an education about what common defects will taste like.
It's still up to you to determine what defects are in your own beer. It's
not like this is a test kit that will detect the presence of certain types
of bacteria, etc, in a beer sample.

IMO, probably not worth the money unless you want to be a beer judge.

Perhaps worth the money depending on how far you live from other
brewers. It would at least teach the user (I assume) what 'astringent'
means. I've seen posts in the UK saying "my beer smells really
astringent - what should I do?". Ho hum. Once you have a good tasting
vocabulary the internet is a lot more use to you. But better to join a
club if you can.

It's not so much a troubleshooting kit as it is a way to learn what off
flavors taste like. You can find ways to do that with common stuff (and
save a bunch of money!) here...

Thanks for the link. I'm going to start introducing those at our club
meetings.
