Has anyone here sucessfully ordered anything from RcbEquip recently ?

A ask because my last successful order back in March I think, took about 2
weeks to arrive at my door in Ontario, Canada.

I placed an order on June 6th and have still not recieved anything. my
multiple emails have gone unanswered, and Im thinking they're no longer in
business. Their website had a notice stating "moving offices, business
delayed, back to normal mid-July" or something along those lines.

Anyone else experience problems ? I'm thinking about looking elsewhere for
some more used kegs.

Thanks,
Craig B.

Sounds like they're moving offices and should be back to normal mid-July.
I'd expect at least two weeks from now. It wouldn't hurt to call them and
inquire about your order. I had an order not get processed in a timely manner,
so I called and they put it out the door that evening.

If you call them let me know what you find out. I ordered a two keg set-up
and some taps from them a couple of days ago. SWMBO figured I deserved
something special for hitting the big 5 Oh!

I ordered a tapper from them in late May or early June. I got it
within a week or so. No problems as far as I could tell.

I wonder-

There is an ebay seller called rcbequipment who was selling kegs on
ebay. I received a pair of them that were defective. He promised me
the world and replacements- never showed.

Never answered any emails after the initial one, either.

If this is the same guy you're doing business thru, I'd skip them.

If it's not, never mind. And yes, I'm bitter- they were a gift for my
wife (I married a woman that loves to make beer.... yes I'm lucky)

It is the same guy, his eBay store says Brewers Discount. He seems to have
many other happy customers. I've bought small parts and such, didn't like
the look of the kegs for some reason.

IMO, rcbequip (aka Brewers Discount) has a pretty good reputation. They've
gotten many recommendations from people on here over the years. I don't
know anything about their current business status, but based on the amount
of praise I've seen about them on here I think they're a good group.

They're ok.. but seems like a one man operation, or perhaps something of a
part time venture. The prices are good, so is the quality of what I've
purchased.. but time to ship varied, seems t(he)ey forgot my order and there's
little tracking on their site.

I went through a website url is rcbequip.com, although the business is
called "Brewers Discount"

I just took a look at the ebay link you gave, I click on "Visit my Store"
and the eby seller also comes up wth Brewers Discount as the store name. -
too similar to be a coincidence.

The seller currently does not have any items listed on ebay, in addition the
last feedback was back in May.

I'm guessing these guys are no longer around.

Anyone suggest any other places for reasonably priced used kegs ?

Thanks,
Craig B.

I've gotten good equipment from them in the past. I did have a bit of
a wait because it is a one man business, and he was on vacation at the
time I placed my web order. His answering service explained the
situation, I waited, and eventually got my order.

Not saying he hasn't had good service- I'm saying that his recent
transaction with me isn't up to par. I was defrauded, plain and
simple, and had I not been extra thorough to test each of the defective
kegs to make sure it wasn't an seal issue I wouldn't have had to wait
to file the formal complaint / freeze funds dispute. The minute I
suspected a problem I should have filed the complaint with paypal, but
because I gave him too much benefit of the doubt, I lost out.

When he offered to send replacements, I held off... and waited too long
when it became obvious the offer was only a pacification to delay me
from filing the complaint.

Therefore, since Ebay, Paypal, and my CC won't let me reverse the
funds, I'm left with the only option left: Informing others about my
displeasure and poor service from his company.

He may offer cheap kegs, but they get very expensive when 25% are
defective. Adding in shipping and it would have been cheaper for me to
purchase reputable kegs.

What you choose to do with the information.... that's up to you. Keep
buying if you've had good luck. But if you're a first time buyer, know
that it isn't an easy sale.

And if I can nail down exactly which police office would handle the
complaint, I'll be filing a fraud report with them, now that I have an
address.

I'm sorry you feel that you were defrauded. I think this is the first time
I've heard of this sort of complaint about them, and I've heard of
many happy customers. IMO, they are a reputable keg seller. Maybe this
is just a misunderstanding?

This is all assuming that the person on Ebay and the person at
www.rcbequip.com are the same. I don't know if that's true.

FWIW, I bought 6 kegs from him a number of years ago, and since I live
about 9 miles away from his business, he delivered them to my door for no
extra charge. (No, I do not know him). He seems like a good guy, so I
would have then and still do recommend him to others. If he offered to
replace the bad keg, why didn't you accept? What else can he be expected
to do? It sounds like there is more to the story....

UPDATE: Mostly GOOD news (for me anyways, and I hope for others)
my Kegs that I ordered on June 6 arrived this morning, however a couple of
smaller items I ordered were not in the box -some sanitizer, beer line
cleaner etc - a dissappointment, albeit a minor one. but Im happy the kegs
arrived still pressurized.

before my wife called me to tell me the kegs had showed up, I did try to
call them earlier this morning, . using the number on the website, which
according to a reverse lookup on 411.com is a cellphone based in
California - I get fwded
to a "this number is currently unavailable" type of message.

Now the website has Delaware listed as the address, and I seem to recall
from my last order in March they were indeed in California, (I could be
wrong though) so it would seem they're not just moving across the street to
a more suitable warehouse/office - they're moving across the country, which,
to be fair, I'm sure causes more than a few issues logistical and otherwise
that have to be taken care of.

And to be fair, I did indicate on my order that "Im in no rush" for the
kegs, in order that I could get the lowest cost shipping. (I already have 3
kegs, but I find Im wanting more so I can age the beer more)

So credit where credit is due. Still, he probably could've/should've
communicated this better on the website, and maybe set up an autoresponder
for email inquiries.

Good luck to those who placed orders recently, hopefully you will recieve
them also.

Thanks
Craig B.

There's another complaint on the ebay listing for kegs that won't hold
pressure. I didn't test them, so I can't comment, but if it's the same
problem I have then thats at least two batches bad.

I'm thinking I might be able to use them to hold wine for cold
stabilization, so long as I purge the surface with CO2 first. I think.

BTW, in most cases the kegs won't hold pressure because one or more of
the rubber orings have gone bad. You can buy a complete replacement set
of orings for like $2, if you're interested in getting the kegs working.

I've bought a dozen kegs from this seller and haven't run into problems with
them:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=170008007812

With the last batch I ordered, I also ordered gasket sets, but I've not
gotten around to installing them. I didn't order gaskets with the first
four I bought; I just dumped a box of baking soda in each keg and let it sit
for a week. They were all holding pressure when they arrived, and I've not
had problems with leaks.

Their inventory appears to be dwindling. They've been running the same ad
for at least a year or two now. Last time I bought kegs (May 2005,
according to the email archive), they were still sitting on a couple
thousand or so. Now, the ad says they're down to 82 kegs.

Won't hold pressure how? Leaking O-ring, poppet, hole in keg?

Fill will gas to at least 10 psi and put into water and find the leak, or
spray with StarSan...could be as simple as needing some keg lube.

Cheers,
Mike

Mark-

I believe you've misinterpreted what I said.

I didn't drag my feet. I tested with my equipment and mailed him when,
beyond a reasonable doubt, the fault was with the items I purchased.
He promised me replacements. I agreed to wait for them. That was the
last email he responded to- and I therefore missed the opportunity to
file a complaint with Paypal in an attempt to recover my money. I sent
several mails before and after with the same information, using the
Ebay mail and the actual adress, in an attempt to garner a response.
Nothing was ever heard of my replacements nor my money.

So yes, I was defrauded after many attempts to contact the seller. The
correct action I should have taken was to open a buyer complaint the
MINUTE I received the kegs and found out they didn't hold pressure.
Personally I find that action distasteful as there were a number of
things that could have been responsible- bad seal, bad relief valve,
etc, but I wanted to test them all first before I filed a complaint.

Frankly, for the several hours I spent testing, I thought I was being
overly honest in making sure that I had examined every possible remedy
before contacting him for replacement parts, and I took him at his word
when he said he'd send them.

I know where the blame lays.

What was this timeframe? A week, a month, six months?

I ordered some parts years ago from RCB and they took about 4 months to
arrive. Due to the long delay he sent them free. Perhaps more time is in
order before fraud reporting, perhaps not, but didja call them?
http://rcbequip.com/
Looks like they have moved at least the business office to Delaware...

Cheers,
Mike
