Subject: plastic gas tube

There was a discussion last month regarding plastic gas tubes. I am one
of the few afflicted with them and I had ordered metal tubes to replace
them. But alas they are of different sizes. I thought it would be easy
enough to drill out the hole in the keg but let me tell you that it
isn't. After an hour of working on the project I gave up. Plus after
repeated rinsing and scrubbing I was still finding metal shavings in
the keg. So I tossed it. $35 gone to an experiment. I post this as a
warning to others not to go down this road!

I see now that someone posted a link for replacement plastic gas tubes
so I'll repost it for the groups edification:

I had this problem but fortunately was referred to the same place and
bought a couple of bags of them. That's too bad about your keg- Without
seeing the keg I have to say- Don't toss it! Is the post is still
there? Maybe somebody here with this kind of experience has some advice
for smoothing it out properly. Even if you didn't get it to work as keg
properly, it might work as secondary if you put a tube on the outpost
in some water. Also, I got a set of 4 kegs (used) for 15$ a peice a
couple of years ago. I'll post a link if I can find the place.

Dave,
Here's were I got my kegs:

http://www.ebrew.com

Look at their price on five kegs.Don't know about shipping these days
though. No affilliation, yada yada. One of the ones I got there was one
with a plastic dip tube so on a subsequent order I requested only
actual cornelius kegs-not the Firestone kegs- and they happily obliged.

Scratch that Dave. I misread their site with optimistic glasses. I
bought a set of four kegs for $12 a piece two or three years ago but I
don't see any such thing anymore. I glad I got my kegs when I did.
Sorry for the bad info.
