Subject: my first lager, the story continues
|
I had posted last week that my gravity had fallen from 1.08 to 1.04 and I was concerned it was stuck. My reading tonight shows 1.03 with 1.02 being the goal. I transferred to secondary and will continue watching it. One question, from my reading it seems that the lagering stage takes place in the carboy and not in the keg? I have secured a spot in a cold room (35 degrees) for long term storage and in another week I think it will be time to move it there. I just need to know which way to store it, keg or carboy. Thanks for all the help! Dave

In fact a starting gravity of 1.080 is pretty strong for a lager. Nevertheless, it's your beer. It doesn't really matter where you lager your beer, the end result is the same. Only thing to watch, is the beer should de-gassed and at the correct temperature to get a useful reading from the hydrometer. Steve W (in Aus)

I don't think it really matters. John.
