Subject: maris grain question

Ok, I've been spending a bit of time on google searching for an answer
to this but so far nothing. This usually means my searching parameters
are way off but I'm getting a headache looking at pages so I have to ask.

What's the difference between maris otter crisp and maris otter floor
malted?

Thanks
Jason

If you go to

http://www.brewerssupplygroup.com/malt/crisp_malt.php

you will find that Crisp Malting Group does indeed floor malt Maris Otter
barley

my understanding is that Maris Otter is a variety of barley, and that
"Crisp" is a brand name. Some malt houses do floor malting, but you
would have to read up on the specific brand you were thinking of to
find out. I believe floor malting is the old, traditional method.

Crisp is the name of a maltster who malts Maris Otter barley. Floor
malting is a method of malting the barley. Crisp may or may not (I
don't know) use floor malting on Maris Otter.

Marris Otter is a variety of barley. I believe Glen Eagles still floor
malts their barley. I believe Crisp is the distributor for them
