Subject: co2 refills in Richmond, VA area?
|
I am just getting into kegging and I was wondering if anyone knows of a place where I can get CO2 refills in the greater Richmond, VA area? Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks, M

I don't live in VA, but in general you can check out your local yellow pages for welding supply shops or fire extinguisher shops (also ask at your LHBS if you have one). IMO, it's a good idea not to mention to them that you'll be using the CO2 for beer. The gas those places carry is perfectly safe, but they may get skittish about it due to liability, etc. From what I've heard most places don't care, but every once in awhile you hear about someone who was refused service because the shop got nervous about it. John.

The only difference between that and "food grade" or "medical grade" CO2 is that the higher grades go through a lot of expensive certification testing so that the food/medical insurance companies can prove that they're pure. The gas all comes from the same place though. John.

Thanks to everyone for the advice. I did use the Yellow Pageds (duh) and called a welding supply place near my house. They did indeed have CO2 refills (I get to keep my tank) and the CO2 is fit for human consumption. Thanks! M
