Subject: a good night

Last night our local club had its Christmas party at the Hop Union.

The Hop Union has a tap room upstairs which usually has three good beers
on tap. Last night was something from Rogue, Sierra Nevada's Celebration
Ale, and something from the big three. So two good beers on tap.

Down the hall from the tap room is the old warehouse which now has three
pool tables, a ping-pong table, and a large tv and couches in it.

It was an all around good time with lots of home brew, food, and cigars.

About two hours into it, Ralph (the place is owned and operated by Ralph
and Ralph) took us all downstairs to the front warehouse. He took us
into a smaller room within the warehouse filled with foil vacuum packs
of about 10oz each and let us grab and choose whatever we wanted. He was
even apologetic that he didn't have a better variety on hand because it
was early in his processing season and said many many times to just stop
back by in January if we found there was something we needed and didn't
have.

I personally walked away with a pound or more each of Cascade, Saaz,
Amarillo, Chinook, Fuggles, and Hallertau.

It is very cool to have someone like Ralph in the industry that is so
supportive of the hobbyists.

Thats a great place. The Yakamania celebration in the summer is a
blast....lots of great beer and food. Lats time I went, we were going
to pitch a tent on the grass by the warehouses, but it was a thousand
degrees so Ralph let my wife and I sleep in the game room. Fun times.

So did you two sign the walls while you were up there?

Can't beat Ralph.

Of course,

I forgot what we wrote exactly. But we were all pretty wasted. Fun
times! And the ride back to Portland over Mt. Rainer was pretty
awesome. Great scenery.
