I got two 1oz packs of these hops from Austin Homebrew in a bundle awhile ago. They're listed at 13.5% AA, which is distressing to me. I'm not a hop head, though we're all beginning to drink hoppier pilseners around here. So I decided to give it ago in a black lager I'm making from leftovers. What I see fairly universally is that they're a high-AA aromatic hop. The best indication of any odor or flavor I got from it is "chunky" bitterness. I did half an ounce as FWH, and found the initial part of the boil had a piney overtone. Does that sound about right? Does anybody here have a good description of the taste and aroma of this hop?
