Subject: Yeast for Oberon Clone?

For those of you familiar with Bell's Oberon, what yeast would you use to clone it? Belgian Wit? American Wheat? Something clean and neutral like 1056? I know I can culture it from the bottle (which I have done before), but this is for some first-time homebrewers, and I don't want their first brew session to be too complicated.

Howdy, I've always used 1056 with good results. I think I may give 1010 American Wheat a shot next time I brew my Oberon recipe (which is based on your recipe that you've posted here a couple of times.) I think a wit yeast would make a tasty beer, but I don't think it would be a good choice for an Oberon recipe. By the way, I brewed up a "rye Oberon" last week. I substituted about 20% of the wheat with rye malt. I hope it turns out well. John Jim Stansell wrote: > For those of you familiar with Bell's Oberon, what yeast would you use > to clone it?
