Will any kind brewer send me some polyclar?

It's not available here in Scotland (or anywhere in the UK) and I can't
seem to beat chill haze. Whirlfloc, Irish moss, tried it all.

If anyone feels like being a good samaritan I will obviously reimburse
you via PayPal (or whatever).

Of course if anyone has any tips for beating chill haze beyond copper
finings, good cold breaks, drinking warm beer, all suggestions are very
welcome!

Sigma -Aldrich UK appear to have it

search using polyvinylpyrrolidone

suffixes include AT and Ultra K-100

you may have to contact them and see who their UK distributors are.

I could be wrong, but something in the back of my memory tells me that
you can find it over in the UK, but it's not called polyclar over there.
That's a very hazy memory, and I don't remember what other name it might
show up as... sorry. Hopefully other UK brewers will chime in.

Looks like that sigma aldritch site won't sell to me unless i'm part of
an organisation (i'm a student). I've emailed them to find out. They
might think i'm using it to make a bomb or something!

Make up a name for your homebrewery and tell them you work for it. A lot
of places like that which claim to only sell to businesses don't really
check into it much. I've bought from places like that before calling in
the order as an "employee" of Valley Mead Brewing Company.

If that doesn't work... if you're friends with the LHBS owner ask if they'll
place the order on your behalf. I've done that before as well. Sometimes
the store will want to mark it up a little bit so they make some money off
of the deal, but they'd probably be happy to order it for you.

You might try also contacting some of the companies that manufacture
Polyclar for a sample to see if you even want to buy the stuff.
http://www.ispcorp.com/ has a UK office and makes

Thanks that's a big help too. I emailed them. This time I'm a brewery
representative.

Just do a protein rest at 122F (50 C) for 15 minutes and then ramp your
mash temps up to the usual sach temp you use and see if that woks for
you next time.

Cold conditioning should get rid of the chill haze. It takes several
weeks for it all to form and settle out, tho' (sorta like lagering).

You could chill the whole secondary or just chill bottles.

So... just leave a bottle or two in the fridge for a month and then see
if the haze isn't gone!

(Note - it is isn't "chill" haze, it will still be there).

Yeah I've been trying this. It certainly works for my lagers but it
does take weeks as you say. For ales, would you take it down to maybe
10C or right down to lagering temps?

I don't think the temp will matter too much, as long it is at
refridgerator temperatures (~40F?) or lower.

When I do it with ales I take them from fermentation temps down to the low
30sF (aka just above 0C) as fast as the freezer will get them there.
