Subject: What to do with hops plants?

I bought 3 hops rhizomes this spring with the intention of planting
them in my yard after I removed huge, overgrown lilacs. Well, I didnt
get around to cutting out the bushes so I now have 3 hops plants in
pots that Im not sure about how to handle.

Can I simply bring the plants indoors for the winter or do I need to
take the roots out of the soil and put in a cool place? Any suggestion
would be great, thanks.

I would probably just plunge the pots into the ground and so that the top of
the pot is about 2-3 inches below ground level, cover with dirt and mulch.

Dig them up when you are ready to properly plant them.

I live in Denver, CO and its quite possible for us to get some real
cold weeks during the winter where the ground can freeze, but I dont
know how deep it typically freezes when it does. Will 2-3 inches be
good or should I go deeper just to be safe?

Thanks

You could go deeper but I don't think its necessary, if you cover with dirt
and mulch, the cold shouldn't harm the plants.

Like miker said, try to keep them from drying out by watering ocassionally.

I agree, just remember to water them occasionally if its a real dry
winter because if they get too dry they may not make it.
