Do it all the time. I sit my chiller in a 2 gallon bucket
with B-Brite for 30 minutes before I rinse and drop it in
the pot.

I think it should be fine. IMO buckets from the LHBS are really cheap
though, I'd just get a couple spare ones for cleaning with.
