Subject: Superior Lager Yeast temperature

I recently got some dried Superior Lager Yeast (from Australia), and
was wondering if it's truly capable of fermenting at lager temperatures
and handling lagering at about 35-40F.

The package says to go no lower than 15C, but that's 60 degrees more or
less, and it kind of defeats the point of brewing a lager, I'd think.

Am I pretty well making a clean-tasting ale, or can "Superior Lager
Yeast" actually work like a real lager yeast?

Here is what I find referenced on Midwest Supplies site:

"Superior Lager (7 grams): This Australian strain exhibits medium flocculation
and attenuates from 75 to 78 percent. Ferments best between 47 and 52 degrees
Farenheit."

That is between 8 and 11 degree Celcius.

I'm a little confused then, because the actual packages I have say to
keep it above 15 celsius.

Does anyone have any practical experience with this yeast type? Should
I even attempt fermenting with it at 50 degrees, or should I just
expect to ferment it at about 60?

Midwest suggested what I wrote, so I am sure that they have such practical
experience. Why don't you just try it?
