Subject: Source of grains in Calgary ?
|
I haven't brewed for about 8 years. The last time I bought grains it was from a company called Prairie Brewing. I don't see them in the phone book and I see their store has disappeared. So where is a good place to buy grains in Calgary these days ? Thanks.

I hate to ask this, but what are the prices like ? Thanks.

I'm pretty sure that they sell grain at the north store, but you could always call and check (you need to phone in your order ahead of time anyways, so they can measure/grind it). Cost, if memory serves me (I haven't bought grain from them in ~1yr) was pretty much the same as before, with everything together (hops, grain and yeast) usually rounding out at about thirty bucks. Unfortunately, our options are becoming limited. The only place in town which I know of that still carries grain is the Vinyard, Center street and 60th ave south (by Chinook mall, god I wish we'd get a chinnok...). I usually call them in the AM and pick up my order on the way home from work. http://www.thevineyard.ca/ Another option is Paddock wood, in Saskatoon. They do mail order, and have pretty much anything you want: http://www.paddockwood.com/index.php Bryan

Maybe these guys would let you piggy back stuff or accomodate you in some way. And where the hell are Alan and Kelvin? I haven't heard from either in over a year. B. -- The man without a .sig
