Subject: Priming cider with juice
|
I have a couple of 5gal containers of cider soon to finish fermenting. I intend to bottle half and put half in a pressure barrel and I want to prime the brew to give it a little fiz. I want to prime with juice. Can anybody tell me how litres of apple juice might corespond to grams of sugar? Or indicate what an appropriate quantity of juice per 5gals might be? I can make a guess myself, so I am after either a calculated definition of the quantity of fermentable sugar in apple juice or maybe a tried and tested amount. Could I calculate it by using the kcal per 100ml figure on the nutritional information panel on a carton of supermarket juice? Tim W
