I finally bought John Palmer's book, and within a month came an
announcement of a new edition. Is there much different in the new (3rd)
edition?

I bought the 3rd edition a few weeks ago from my local homebrew shop. I
do not have a 2nd edition to compare to, but there is a section of the
book called "notes on the third edition". From reading the notes, it
sounds like batch sparging and no sparging are the biggest changes. I
actually bought the book for the batch sparging section. It says that he
improved on some other topics as well.

So your saying a version 4 is coming out? I just bought the book also
after reading the first version online.

I think the OP was saying that he has the 2nd edition and as soon as he
bought it he found out there was a 3rd. I do not think there is a 4th
(yet).

John Palmer posts on here every once in awhile. I assume that when a 4th
edition is available he'll drop us a quite note letting us know. I believe
he did the same when the 3rd edition came out.

Should have been "quick note" above. Doh!

That's correct.

Yes, a huge difference. As good as the 2nd edition is, it pales in
comparison to the 3rd.
