I tried everything/everywhere to give them away! We still have a few
thousands in milk crates, but they to will go by next garbage pick up.
We filled up 5 dumpsters so far :(

I wish there was someone in the UK doing that. Bottles here are so
expensive to buy. At least everywhere I've looked so far they are.

Yes. Unless your state mandates recycling with the use of deposits it
can be hard to recycle glass. One of the issues with recycling is that
as more people do it both individualy and commercially the more
depressed the market gets for recyclables. Well, I can't say that bit
of market forces exists now, but it did in the early '90's. As point
source recycling hubs came on line the prices paid plummeted. Why do
you think that municipalities now force you, the taxpayer, to seperate
your recyclables? Because if they pay someone to do it they lose
money, but if they legislate that you have to provide them with free
labor they can actually make some resonable cash.

Why would they use a dumpster? If they cant get anyone to take them just
take them to a bottle recycling place and at least get some cash back.

They have recycling bins here. You just drop it off and the recycling
company maintains it for the cost of free recyclables. It is a great
place to get wine bottles.

As far as beer bottles I had to get rid fo about 300 of them myself
last year. I gave them to a friend.

Actually, the only recycling that makes sense is cans and bottles.
Recycling paper and other materials costs too much money and can
actually create more pollution. It is really a PR issue for
environmentalist, but take a look at the sludge created from dying paper
and breaking it down, and it isnt very eco-friendly.

Not slamming it, just pointing it out.

If you want a recycle bin as part of your weekly pick up of trash here,
they charge you extra! While I was in college they gave us a break on
the garbage rate if you had recycle bins. But here on "the other side of
the mountains" they charge more for the privelage of sorting out your
recyclables and binning them up for them. Of course if you drive them
out to the landfill there are free bins for recyclables, and a company
in town that will pay you by the pound for them if you bring them in.

Well, end of saga. Someone actually bought 200 of the milk crates the
bottles were in for a $1.00 a crate. Would you belive! Plastic rules
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How long before we have beer bottles in plastic? 1 year.......5
years.... You say no. no, no, while you are sipping your fucking water
bottles made out of plastic. In UK you could not even sell anyone water
in a glass bottle, in the US we are ahead of everyone
...................?
