Subject: Helium tanks hold CO2?

Can a helium tank be filled with CO2 and if so will people who fill/exchange
them go for that for the most part?

TIA

Most places are pretty strict on what gas they'll put in what tank. In
many cases they can probably get in legal trouble if they don't. You can
always ask them though.

I had a NO2 tank that was gladly exchanged for a CO2 tank at my welding shop. FWIW.

You traded tanks, Bob. The OP wants to put helium in a CO2 tank. The
answer to his question is 'no, they won't.'

I think that's why he added the FWIW part.. If the end result of the deal is
to get a 50# tank of CO2 and not go back to helium, it sounds like a plan.

Thanks, that's sort of what I figured and I figure I'm shooting dice on a
trade (and with my luck that means I'll be stuck with 2 helium tanks with no
use for them). Best bet is to pass on the Helium tanks and buy CO2 tanks?
That's my gut talking anyway. But the price is good so I figured I'd vet -
kegging my beer is a goal I strive to reach. :)

I believe he wants to put CO2 in Helium tanks.

Call the tank shop and ask them. That's what I did. They said no problem.
