Subject: Great Homebrew shop in TX

Just wanted to sing the praises of Austin Homebrew :
https://www.austinhomebrew.com/

I first met these guys when I bought a used kegerator in the Austin area
that needed some parts. I stopped in and they were very helpful and had all
the parts I needed and helped me get my 2 tap system in great shape.

I have since ordered 2 beer kits from them that have come out VERY well. I
ordered a Sam Adams Ale and a Fat Tire Ale clone that came out really well.
They were the extract versions and that means you still get some grains in a
bag with the kits.

Reasonably priced, $5.99 shipping (no matter what you buy) and very high
quality. I have a Homebrew store right near my house and another great one
(Defalcos) here in Houston that I have used also. Austin Home brew has just
been really great to deal with and has very high quality products to use.

No (0) affiliation.

While I certainly wouldn't want to take credit away
from one of the good guys, I think her personality/ies
did as much or more.

Also, she apparently kept selling to the Taliban, which didn't help
much either. ;)

Isn't she still in the wine business?

You mispelled "whine". (And, "yes", last I knew. But only, IIRC,
as a supplier of major equipment and not so much stuff for the
home wine maker.)

Ditto.

I've been homebrewing for all of 2-3 months now. I've made 5 brews
(Belgian Whit, Aggligam Christmas Ale clone, a boddingtons clone, a
full sail amber, and a belhaven.

All my supplies, bottles, kits, etc have come from Austin Homebrew.
When I went in to get my starter set up, I spent about 4 hours in the
store. Everyone was amazingly helpful and got me on the right track.
I live a few hours north, and get 1 day shipping for 5.99 no matter
what I order.

Great place with knowledgeable folks. No affiliation here either.

I am not so sure I like the $5.99 shipping though. That means they put the
"average shipping and handling" costs into the price of their product. Thus,
those nearby are paying relatively more than those further away, right? So,
has anybody compared the in-store prices to the online catalog prices?

I am biased though, as I REALLY like Northern Brewer
http://www.northernbrewer.com .

I also am not (0) affiliated.
