How do beer companies ferment beer more than once? Do they save some of the wort, add that into the previously fermented beer, and add yeast to ferment it again? I want to know. Thanks!!!!!

They don't really ferment the same beer more than once. What most of them mean when they say a second fermentation, is that they add some extra sugar to the beer at bottling time. The yeast ferment this small batch of new sugar in order to create the carbonation. John.

So, how much sugar would I need to add to create the same amount of carbonation as store bought beer? Is that a good idea?

A typical amount is 3/4 cup of priming sugar for a 5 gallon batch. > Is that a good idea? Sure, that's how most homebrewers carbonate their bottles. John.
