Subject: Fermentation Fridge

I got a free upright freezer to use as a fermentation fridge.
Upon inspection, I saw there were coils in the shelves which
meant it could not be used as a FF. But I took it anyway.
After I moved all the food into it from my chest freezer, I
started using the chest freezer as a FF with the help of a
Ronco controller. Due to surgeries on my back and my right
shoulder, I am now a 280 lb weakling. But I have a friend
who comes by and moves stuff for me.

Then the free freezer became a defrost problem as in every
3 months. So I gave it away an bought a 13.7 cu ft freezer
from Sears for 399 + tax. Its shelves do not have coils.
But it's not wide enough for two pails and it's not high
enough for stacking. But as a home freezer it is great.

Now I just need to con my wife into letting me get a larger
one for my beer.

Gee Dick I thought this would have been an easy solution for you.
Even in your present condition you could possibly construct another
insulated box to set along side of your chest freezer and use some
insulated ducting to circulate some cold air. Yet if you find a bigger
freezer I guess that could do the same thing.
