I am making two batches (5 gal) of Bock beer, a batch of Brown Ale, and a batch of Australian Dark ale, These are all pre-hopped LME and DME batches. I would like to dry hop each of them. Suggestions will be appreciated! Dick

I was looking for suggestions on specific hops for dry hopping each beer. Dick

Okey dokey! For the bock, don't go there...not to style and I can't imagine it being a good thing to do, anyway! For the brown, I'd suggest Goldings for an English brown and Centennial for an American brown. No idea on the Australian dark.... ---------------- >Denny -- Life begins at 60...1.060, that is.

Aussie beers are generally fairly thin and lightly hopped - bitterness and aroma/flavour wise. Aussie dark ales, if you had to group them, are generally mildly, fruity (something I think the yeast contribute more to than hops)and chocolaty If you really want to dry hop, maybe a light smattering of some english style hops (fuggles/goldings?). Or use Australian pride of ringwood. http://www.australianbeers.com/beers/tooheys_old/tooheys_old.htm for a typical aussie dark cheers rb

The same goes for the bock -- these beers are very lightly hopped, and the darker varieties show little hop flavor or aroma. Dry hopping a bock might yield a good beer -- but it won't be anything like a bock. -- (Replies: cleanse my address of the Mark of the Beast!)
