I will be bottling an IPA tomorrow (if all goes right). This is the
first time I've dry-hopped.

I have one ounce of loose Cascade leaf hops floating in my carboy. Do I
need to do anything special to keep them from getting into or cloggin my
racking cane? I have a little thingie at the bottom of the cane to keep
it off the trub; will that keep the hops out as well?

Thanks (again)
Tom

Your racking cane may still clog up. My method is to sanitize a
stainless steel scrubbie and poke the end of the racking cane into that.
The scrubbie acts as a filter to keep those hops out.

I used sterilized cheesecloth and a rubber band wrapped around the end of my
siphon before.

I don't do anything special, but I've seen other people say that they have
problems with it. You can take a hop bag (or plastic scrubbie) and wrap it
around the end of your racking cane. Use a rubber band or something similar
to secure it.
