Subject: Cheap burner at Sam's Club

I just went to the N. Seattle Sam's club and noticed that they have their
stainless
steel burner with a 34 quart stainless pot "turkey fryer" for just under
$40. The
burner itself does not appear to be stainless. It appears that the outer
ring of the
burner support would "just" fit around my converted keg pot, although I
haven't
tested this.

That's a really good deal if it's SS. I bought one SS fryer kit with burner
and everything before though for $70 and I just rinsed it out with water and
let it dry. when it was dry I noticed rust dripping where it was cheaply
made and had pitted. I ended up keeping it for the burner and for deep
frying but I ended up buying an 18/0 SS pot for $40 for brewing. I think the
turkey fryer pot was a very low grade SS, so beware of good deals.

The burner isn't (it's a casting of some sort), but the pot and the frame
are. I have a couple of them that I picked up a few years ago. I paid $70
for the first and picked up the second for just $15, right before they
replaced them with the current model (the only difference I can see between
them is that the current model has a couple of handles on the frame).

While $40 for a stainless turkey fryer is a pretty good deal (you'll
normally pay that much for smaller aluminum fryers), there's a chance that
prices could go even lower with a little time.

You sure it comes with a stainless steel pot, or is it aluminum? SS
pots are rediculously expensive. Regardless of it's type, seems like a
great deal.

The pot and burner/pot support were clearly stainless.
