Subject: Burner for 80% butane 20% propane mixture

I am looking for a burner for 80% butane 20% propane mixture (local
cooking gas) that would be sufficient for 2BBL boil.
Nice burner thingy on
http://morebeer.com/browse.html?key...ategory_id=1168
complies with propane or alternatively natural gas.
What defines compatibility of a burner to certain fuel gas? Pressure,
nozzle size, both?
European ring burners cost fortune and I even can't understand do they
comply.

Any advice will be welcomed.

Generally both, pressure and orifice.

The principle is that you have to deliver a certain mass flow of fuel, well
mixed with an appropriate proportion of air, such that the velocity of the
fuel/air flow is well below the flame propagation speed outside the burner
(so the flame maintains its own ignition) but above that speed (pinched off
from burning, if you will) inside the burner.

This is usually designed via a choice of orifice size and delivery
pressure. So if you have an adjustable regulator for pressure, and a
rudimentary ability to improvise small orifices, then you can experiment to
find an appropriate configuration.

Thank you.
It looks like I have found the specific answer for the problem.
I will order a ring burner for LP and it is supposed to comply more or
less with any butane/propane mixture.
This assumption is base on
http://www.iccsafe.org/cs/codes/2004-05cycle/ProposedChanges/FuelGas.pdf

It could be concluded (table E.2) that Btu/h for LP gases doesn't
depend on pressure but only on orifice size and are pretty close for
butane or propane.
LP orifice sizes for ring burner jets as sold by morebeer are in the
range of #62-66 which
give about 9-12K for propane and 10-13 for butane per one jet (280-370K
for propane and 320-470 for butane for 32 jets) that complies well with
rated heating power of 300K for this burner.
It means as for my understanding that I will be in the ballpark in any
case but the smaller the orifice the better.

No, in Israel.
I have read that the more to the south the greater butane content in
the LP gas. Moreover in some countries gas companies sell "summer" LP
with more butane in it.
The problem of burner is almost solved.
In US LP gas pressure after regulator/redactor is supposed to be
11w.c., that is about 28mbar.
A propo Spain, Paella burners sold in Germany have in their specs
50mbar for the secondary pressure.
To find what is the LP pressure in Israel and i am done!
