Subject: Blue Moon Clone?

Does anyone out there have a good all-grain Blue Moon clone? My wife
loves Blue Moon, and sometimes you gotta keep 'em happy!

Thanks!

It will be easier to find clone recipes of beers of which Blue Moon is
a rather crappy knock-off. Does she like Hoegaarden? Wittekirke?

I suppose you could also email Pete Coors directly and ask for the
recipe, but he's probably busy right now with court appearances and
what-not...

But if someone likes the crappy knock-off then the original might not
be the desired beer.

Why? What's going on with Pete?

He was arrested for drunk driving.

lately.

You know.. taking one of those brews would probably work just fine. What
are the odds of homebrewer taking a clone recipe of a mass production brew
and nailing it? The brew process differences will be the driving factor in
the outcome anyway. Plus, even if someone were to make a true homebrew
clone, the homebrew would still taste better because of the process
differences.

So I second your suggestion to use a clone for one of the other brews you
mentioned. I didn't know Blue Moon was intended to be a clone of
Hoegaarden. Is it the yeast strain that's being reused or something more
than that?

One man's "crappy knock-off" may be another man's treasure.

BTW one of my favorite beers was Michelob Hefe Weizen, can't find it anymore
through.

I'm new to home brewing and did not see this any of the books. I think I can
get the hang of this beer making thing but keeping the wife happy?

Is this essential to good beer brewing? If it is I better sell my starter
kit....

There is a reason why we generally refer to the wife as SWMBO (She Who
Must Be Obeyed). Keeping the wife happy all the time is almost
impossible. Aim for trying to keep her from getting upset with you any
more than necessary. If you figure out how to keep her happy all the
time, you will be a candidate for a Nobel prize!

Down south they do this by simply not getting married.
Then they win the No-Belle Prize.
