It is more basic than Strangebrew, tho', but I got it running and haven't gotten Strangebrew running from Linux yet (just the Windows version a couple years ago). Looks like qbrew is here: http://usermode.org/code.html Derric

I have a couple of Qt proggies I use, but mostly I use GTK apps (Gnome user) In the end though, you're probably right. I have an A4 folder with food recipes on my shelf and I'll prolly end up with another one for beer :-) I prefer to have paper to read over stuff on a screen, even with a 19" LCD! It's much easier to flip through and compare. Wayne -- Registered Linux user #375994 http://www.geocities.jp/rondonko/

: I have used qbrew as well. The Strangebrew java is more comprehensive but : qbrew is great if you just want a simple record of ingredients and the OG, : FG, ABV, IBU and colour. : -- I use qbrew as my main brewing calculator. It's a little less comprehensive than some of the others, but it's quick and easy to compute OG's and IBU's. I'm not sure how it computes the FG, but I've never seen any "adjustments" on it (e.g. mash temp, yeast strain, etc). Still... it works OK and makes a decent output format printout if you want. -Cory -- ************************************************************************* * Cory Papenfuss, Ph.D., PPSEL-IA * * Electrical Engineering * * Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University * *************************************************************************

I also do not purchase commercial software. After years of wasting vast sums of money on OS/2 and its software only to be kicked in the teeth by IBM I've learned my lesson :-) I will, however, pass this on to a good friend who works at a US micro and is unfortunate enough to put up with having his pockets picked by Billy boy and his gang of thieving thugs.
