I just finished off a keg of a porter I made with EKG hops for biterness and dry-hopped with Willamette hops. (honestly, I forgot to put the flavor hops in the boiler, so I added them as dry hops)Years ago, I dry hopped an ale with Willamette and loved it. This time it had an astringent off-flavor. I thought that might have been the large amount of brown malt I used, but now I get the same off-flavor in the Scottish ale I brewed using the same hops. Has anybody else experienced a batch of hops from a variety you generally like, but was bad in a particular instance? John
