Subject: Re-building Beer Fridge - Need suggestions

I am looking to rebuild my beer fridge. I have already found a larger cheap fridge. I would like to get SS front seal faucets. Anyone have problems with these? I have not seen any SS shanks. Is this normal to use the chrome ones? Anyone run Soda? I have mine setup with a large length of hose, for the added co2 pressure. I get a lot of foam still. Is there a better faucet to have for this?

The Shirron faucets are the best thing ever! Never stick, and maybe three drips after closing. They are easy to disassemble, clean, and reassemble. -- Dan

I've been using Vent-Matic faucets for a few years now. I'm glad I got them and have had zero problems since. MicroMatic has SS shanks: http://www.micromatic.com/draft-keg-beer/taps-faucets-cid-607.html Get them, you will thank yourself later.. I also dispense soda as well as high carb Hefe. It is not the faucet that has the most impact for this application. Dispensing line resistance will get you where you want to be. I use Vent-Matic Flo-Gates to control the pour and prevent foaming. Unfortunately, they are not available anymore (as best as I can tell) - however you can build your own Restive Gate: http://www.maltosefalcons.com/tech/resistivegate.php This will fix your issue.. Is there a better > faucet to have for this? For the moment, I've pretty much resolved to formulate my soda in a way that it tastes good at beer carbonation rates. I have not yet had any luck with carbonating it to normal levels (about 3.7) and not having it come out of solution as soon as it exits the cobra tap. I will get more carbonation in the soda that ends up in the glass if I start with lower carbonation levels in the keg. Of course the cheat is to carbonate high and then drop the pressure to transfer it from keg to glass temporarily. But to me that's kind of a PITA. --Jeff
