Subject: FOH mix position in theaters
My boss has asked me to come up with ideas for revising our FOH mix
space. For the last 25 years, we've simply removed a couple rows of
seats and set the console and racks on the floor. In addition, it's
under a balcony that gives me a 160 Hz standing wave reflecting off the
wall and window behind it. Now, he's asking about a "pit" kind of setup
that can be in whatever the most optimal position in the house is. This
is a 2500 seat theater that hosts a wide variety of events, both ours
and as a rental for touring rock, country, and Broadway shows. So,
what's your FOH position like? If you're a BE, what would you like to
see in terms of size and placement when you walk into a room? Anybody
got pics of your setup?
