I brewed a RIS stout today.
Probably 1.120 gravity.
I normally add some molasses but I did not have any.

Anyone else add this or something similar?

Since I brewed the beer today, any problems with adding some without
boiling?

As long as it's actively fermenting (or just past) you can add
fermentables without issue. I would boil a little water and add the
molasses to the water, so that it's easier to stir into the wort.

Why don't you boil some in a little water, let it cool, then add it to
your brew? That would be the most sensible approach. Adding it
without boilng risks infection, and may not dissolve easily.

Be sure that the molasses is not sulfurated.

I am not sure what that is...

But I always used "black strap" type.

It should tell you that it is sulfurated on the label.

When I use molasses, I use the Grandma's brand. It's not sulfurated and
has much better flavor than the black strap.

Do you use it in Imperial Stouts?
